It ignites pleasure and satisfaction in me to be associated with an institution that has gained great strides in the short period of its existence.Royal Global School, Guwahati, is an amalgamation of competent teachers, state of the art infrastructure, vibrant and charismatic students having diverse backgrounds, carrying unique streaks of values, traditions and cultures. At RGS, unrelenting effort goes in mentoring and metamorphosing the uncut diamonds into finer Royalite gems. Our dedicated staffs work as a team tirelessly and it is because of their selfless and relentless efforts that the school has reached majestic heights. We shall leave no stone unturned to ensure that the educational experience of our students are meaningful and relevant to the needs of the times and equip them to face the challenges of the future, while ensuring that at the same time they are enjoying their experience of learning.. Our endeavour has been and always will be to take RGS to greater heights of success, performance and excellence.
I am sure in the years to come we will have many reasons to celebrate our success and accomplishments .To conclude, I quote Henry Ford: " Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goal".

INTRODUCTION

The Middle School level in any school is a very crucial stage where a child is no longer in primary and yet not an adult. Thus, at Royal Global School (RGS) students are taught to foster acceptance, tolerance and an empathetic heart. Thinking skills, social skills and emotional skills are also developed by laying stress on Spoken English, Mathematics and Science.

METHODOLOGY

There has been changes in the teaching methodology. The Language paper has been divided into Literature and Language, both comprising of 100 marks each. Grammar is taught in detail so that the child develops his spoken skills. Besides the Audio Visual way of teaching, science is taught through fun methods such as Butterfly Kits, where the student is encouraged to perform his own experiments.

ASSESSMENTS

Assessments of students are done through two ways – Formatives and Summative. Formatives are nothing but going assessments and reviews in classroom. It helps monitor student regularly, provide ongoing feedback to help improve teaching methods of instructors and learning methods of students, identify slow learners and helps in problem solving. Formatives could be conversational skills, projects, assignments or written tests. Weekly tests and unit test marks are also added to the Formatives.10% of each Formative is added to the final results of the student. Assessment are formal written examinations. The Syllabus of the Unit Test is not included in the Summative Examination. This system has been introduced by the CBSE board, so as not to pressurize the child during the time of examination.

The Academic year is divided into two parts. They are as follows :

Part-I Part-II
Weekly test Weekly test
Unit test-I Unit test-II
Formative-I Formative-III
Formative-II Formative-IV
Summative-I Summative-II

For the overall development of a student, a student should participate in co-curricular activity. Besides academics, every child is encouraged to choose two Activities and two Sports which are major and minor. Major Sports are played on a regular basis but minor sports are for the months when swimming does not commence. Clubs have been introduced this year which are held in the afternoon.

Thus excellence at RGS is sought through a holistic development of every child. Here every child imbibes the maxim that : “Fair is not equal, Fair is getting what you need.”
