DEAR Program Successfully Conducted

The DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) program was successfully launched in the school, marking a positive beginning to the reading initiative. Students from all grades participated enthusiastically and demonstrated a keen interest in reading.

During monitoring rounds, it was observed that almost all students were well-prepared with their books and were actively engaged in reading. Only a few students were found without books, while the majority participated sincerely.

One of the most notable aspects of the program was the discipline maintained throughout the school. A pin-drop silence prevailed across the building, reflecting the focus and dedication of the students during the reading session.

Teachers also participated wholeheartedly, encouraging students and contributing to the smooth and effective implementation of the program.

Overall, the DEAR program was conducted successfully and served its purpose of fostering a strong reading culture within the school community.

Continuation of DEAR (Drop Everything and Read) Program

Dear Parents,

Greetings from the Library Department.

We are pleased to inform you that the DEAR (Drop Everything and Read) Program will continue in the current academic session, building on the success achieved in the previous year.

The program will commence on 17th April and will be conducted every Friday from 8:00 am to 8:20 am, following the same schedule as before. During this time, students will engage in silent and independent reading to strengthen their reading habits and improve concentration and language skills.

Students are required to bring a book of their choice from home every Friday. This will help in extending the reading habit beyond the classroom and ensure continuity at home.

To further encourage and recognize students’ participation, one student from each class will be awarded every month based on the following five criteria, which will be monitored by the class teacher during the DEAR sessions:

  • Regular participation
  • Reading discipline
  • Interest and engagement
  • Book handling and care
  • Overall reading progress

Selected students will be awarded with a certificate of recognition.

We request parents to support this initiative by motivating their children to participate sincerely and consistently.

Your cooperation in nurturing a strong reading culture among students is highly appreciated .
