A Tribute to Jamini Roy
Reeha Bhuyan, a grade XII humanities student has prepared a recreation of Jamini Roy’s painting. It depicts a mother and child, a recurring theme in Roy’s art that symbolizes warmth, protection, and divine maternal love. The figures are rendered in a simplified, stylised manner, drawing from Bengal folk traditions and Kalighat paintings. Strong, bold outlines define the faces and drapery. The almond-shaped, elongated eyes and serene expressions are signature elements of Jamini Roy’s style.
