Bharatiya Nav Varsh

A special assembly was conducted on 13th March, 2026 to create awareness among students about Bharatiya Nav Varsh, which will be celebrated on 19 March 2026, marking the beginning of Vikram Samvat 2083.
The assembly was organized across three venues so that students from all sections of the school could participate. It began with the school prayer and school song, followed by the chanting of Sanskrit shlokas by the students. The gathering was addressed by Director, RGS, Dr. Arup Mukhopadhyay, Vice Principal Ms. Binita Jain, and Vice Principal Ms. Anita Varma, who spoke about the significance of Bharatiya Nav Varsh and the traditional Indian calendar system.
Students learned that while the world largely follows the Gregorian calendar, India also follows ancient calendar traditions such as the Vikram Samvat, which is associated with King Vikramaditya and dates back over 2000 years. The speakers explained that the Bharatiya New Year begins with the month of Chaitra and symbolizes renewal, prosperity, and the start of a new agricultural cycle.
Students were also introduced to the diverse ways in which this New Year is celebrated across India—such as Ugadi, Gudi Padwa, Navreh, and Cheti Chand.
The assembly concluded with the National Anthem and a message encouraging students to celebrate Bharatiya Nav Varsh with awareness and pride in India’s rich cultural heritage.
