Exploring Visual Politics Through Cartoons

On 3rd December, 2025, two students of Grade 11 Humanities, Bhargavi Devi and Grace Kharbuli, along with the Club In-Charge, Ms Pooja Bhattacharjee proudly represented the Sanskriti – History and Heritage Club at a lecture hosted by RSHSS, The Assam Royal Global University, . The session, delivered by Dr. Ritu Gairola Khanduri, Associate Professor of Cultural Anthropology (University of Texas at Arlington), focused on “Cartoons as Cultural Knowledge: Gandhi, Visual Politics and the Making of Modern India.”
The students gained a rich and insightful understanding of how political cartoons serve not only as historical sources but also as powerful tools shaping public opinion and social narratives. The seminar deepened their perspective on visual politics, encouraged critical thinking, and enriched their appreciation for interdisciplinary learning. An inspiring and academically rewarding experience indeed!
