Far East Zone Chess 2024
The CBSE Far East Zone Chess Championship 2024 was hosted by Royal Global School, Guwahati, from September 20 to 22, featuring 159 teams from 74 schools and 620 players from across northeastern states, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, West Bengal, and more.
The championship had eight categories (Under 11, 14, 17, and 19, both Mixed & Girls), showcasing young talent in a team format under the Swiss League System. The top two teams qualified for the CBSE National Chess Tournament in Jalandhar, Punjab, in October.
The event was inaugurated by Mr. Mukuta Deka, Vice Chairman of the All India Chess Federation, with a cultural program. It concluded on September 22 with a prize distribution ceremony led by Mr. Mrinal Kalita and Dr. Dillip Kr. Panda.
