RGS Students Embrace Animal Welfare
True compassion embraces all living creatures, not just mankind. This belief inspired 32 student volunteers from the Animal Welfare Club of RGS, Guwahati, led by their club in-charge, Mrs. Seema Barooah, to embark on a meaningful visit to the Guwahati Goshala in Athgaon on the auspicious occasion of Janmashtami.
The visit provided a valuable learning experience, offering students firsthand insights into the daily operations of the animal shelter. They witnessed the care, feeding, and housing of over 700 cows residing on the Goshala’s sprawling 100-bigha property. Mr. Ratan Gupta, a member of the Goshala, warmly welcomed the RGS team and provided a detailed introduction to the shelter’s operations, emphasizing the importance of providing care and shelter to animals in need.
Students actively participated and brought jaggery, bananas, and grains, lovingly feeding them to the cows. Engaging in discussions with the shelter staff and volunteers further enriched the experience. The students learned about the staff’s dedication and challenges in promoting animal welfare and protection. The passion and commitment of these individuals served as a powerful inspiration.
The visit proved to be educational and deeply impactful, reinforcing the importance of love and compassion for all living beings. It equipped the students with practical knowledge of animal welfare and advocacy, making it a valuable learning experience.
We express our heartfelt gratitude to the entire team at the Guwahati Goshala for their warm welcome and dedication to animal welfare. We look forward to future collaborations and partnerships to further support this important cause.
