We are all unique and individual in our own way. We have our own preferences and our likes and dislikes. But yet in spite of our diversity, we all have a right to live with dignity and respect. This was very well presented by the Rainbow Club of Royal Global School through an endearing and heart-touching enactment about the 3rd gender. The actors could drive home the point that we as a society should be more accepting of other's preferences; be kind and generous and not be judgemental.
Royal Global School has started a noble initiative of Royal Vastraseva as a step to contribute and help the people in need which builds a temperament of service before self among the students. Under this initiative, the students of Royal Global School along with their educators visited Ila Snehalaya, Betkuchi on 24th June 2023 where they distributed the clothes that were donated by the students of Royal Global School. They spent quality time interacting with the children of the orphanage.
June 21, the longest day in the Northern Hemisphere known as the Summer Solstice is also celebrated as the International Yoga Day. Royal Global School Guwahati celebrated this day with the entire school participating in performing Yog asanas. There was an ambience of calm and tranquility that prevailed in the school as the entire RGS fraternity followed the Yoga coach Jayesh who began by invoking God's blessings. The school corridors were bustling with activities as the young students performed Surya Namaskar and other Asanas in perfect sync. These activities are done in the school to enable the students to realise the importance of Yog in everyone's daily life. They are encouraged to incorporate Yog as it calms the soul and heals the body.
Royal Global School pays a humble homage to Bishnu Prasad Rabha, an Indian cultural figure from Assam on his 54th death anniversary. Binita Jain (Vice Principal), and Sushanta Chaudhry (Dean of Activities) paid homage while offering flowers, followed by a borgeet by the Arts and Music faculty. Considered a doyen of the Culture of Assam, the Assamese people affectionately call him Kalaguru (meaning: "the master of the arts"), Sainik Silpi (sainik "soldier", silpi "artist") for his active participation in the armed struggle, led by the Revolutionary Communist Party of India (RCPI). Bishnu Prasad was an established singer. The relevance of the ideals of Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha, the musical and artistic genius who transcended man-made barriers to unite diverse communities was remembered by staff and students fondly.
In a celebration that embraced both Father's Day and the principles of environmental responsibility, fathers and their children were invited to participate in a unique event. This special occasion provided an opportunity to honor fathers while encouraging them to explore their creativity and contribute to a sustainable future. Guided by the three R's of Environment Day - Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle - the fathers and children enthusiastically embarked on a mission to transform trash into extraordinary creations. With unwavering zeal and enthusiasm, fathers joined forces with their children to utilize waste materials to create magnificent works of art. This collaborative effort not only showcased their creativity but also strengthened the bond between fathers and children, emphasizing the power of shared experiences and the potential for beauty within discarded items. The Investiture Ceremony of the academic session 2023, Royal Global School was commemorated on 17 June with great dignity at the school auditorium. The ceremony was administered by Chief Guest, Kumar Padmapani Bora (Indian Revenue Service Officer, author, motivational speaker, and columnist), Executive V President & GSF Mr. Ankur Pansari, Professor Dr. SP Singh, Members of the management Ms. Shikha Modi & Ms. Harsha Pansari. The program was indeed a platform to appreciate leadership qualities. The ceremony began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp to illuminate each mind before the commencement of the program. It was followed by a soulful Ganesh Vandana, the all-faith prayer, and a dance performance by the students depicting the different cultural styles of dance across the country. The elected members of the council were then pledged and conferred with the badges and sashes by the Vice Principal of the school and the Chief Guest. In their respective speeches, the Vice Principal, Royal Global School, congratulated the cabinet members for their exemplary qualities and also made an appeal to serve the entrusted powers and learn from their failures. The Vice-Chancellor, RGU, addressed the gathering by congratulating the newly constituted cabinet members and advising them to be the epitome of responsibilities that would be an identity of the institution. He also made a mention that the teachers have chosen the best and it is now their authority to live up to it and not hesitate to take up any ‘thankless job’. The Chief Guest in his speech enchanted the audience by narrating stories that cheered the hearts of the children as they could relate to the life lessons that he was trying to convey. At the end of the program, the council took their pledge to hold the school motto, responsibilities, and reputation in high esteem. The program ended by honoring the nation as everyone stood up to the singing of the National Anthem.
Royal Global School recently attended its first Round Square Conference, which was hosted by The Lawrence School Sanawar. A student delegation of 6 Royalites- Arjun Agarwal, Granth Jalan, Rupal Jain, Samaira Jain, Tieara Agarwala, and Vihaan Upadhyay- escorted by Ms. Binita Jain, Round Square Rep of RGS, attended the conference. The theme of the conference was… Protect….Preserve and Progress ….. for Sustainable Happiness. A total of 244 students from across 27 schools in India and abroad assembled to deliberate on the theme of the conference. The inspiring keynote speakers Ms. Rajbir Sandhu the Round Square Schools’ Support Director of South Asia & Gulf Region, Mr. Kartik Satyanarayan, Mr. Arjun Kochar, and Lt. Gen. Kamal Dawar enlightened the students on various aspects of wildlife protection, forests conservation, and physical as well as mental well-being for sustainable happiness. The evenings of the three-day conference were replete with amazing story-telling sessions by the renowned storyteller Mrs. Rituparna Ghosh. The discussions and deliberation during the Barraza sessions provided an enriching experience for the attendees, fostering the exchange of views, personal growth, and a deeper understanding of the theme of the conference. They enjoyed storytelling sessions sitting amidst the grove of trees with a variety of birds chirping around them, went for bird watching in the early hours, and bravely participated in a host of adventure activities in Chail and Dhaaron ki Dhar. The student delegation of RGS presented a musical skit where they passed on a strong message on the need to make the earth a better place for all.
5th June is celebrated as Environment Day. In sync with World Environment Day, the IVth and the Vth graders had an Intersection Competition woven around the theme of Environment. The competition was divided into two parts. One was the Recitation Competition and the other was Come as you like. The charismatic young students recited poems on Environment with confidence and elan. It was a sight to behold when the students of Come as you like performed. Dressed in their creative attires they enacted and danced, thereby captivating the audience with their enchanting and riveting performances. With their performances, the students were able to enlighten the gathering about the measures one should take to save Mother Earth
Mahapurusha Madhavdev was an eminent 16th-century Assamese saint-reformer and a loyal disciple of Srimanta Sankaradeva. He was an important teacher of Sankardev's Ekasarana Dharma. He is best known as the creator of Naam Ghoxa as well as 109 collections of Borgeets. To commemorate the birth anniversary on 5th June 2023, the students of class 5 C celebrated it with a Borgeet named “Kotora Khelai Hari e” by Mahapurush Madhavdev. June 5th is also celebrated as World Environment Day. The students celebrated the day to spread awareness of how essential it is to conserve the environment for a better future and life for all. To sum it up, the students of VC presented a beautiful song “Count on Trees”.
Royal Global School Guwahati hosted Dialectics, the inter-house debate tournament, as part of Meraki - The Interhouse Festival, in association with Pratarka Educational Services. The students debated in a 3v3 modified Asian Parliamentary Debate format. The judges were felicitated by Binita Jain, Vice Principal of Royal Global School. The motion for the finals was “This House Believes That, in areas of socio-economic deprivation, schools should prioritize training vocational skills over everything else.” The judges of the debate were: Mr. Arshad Wasim Ahmed - A graduate of Shri Ram College of Commerce, University of Delhi, with a B.Com (H). Mr. Arshad is currently posted as the Labour Inspector in the Government of Assam. Accompanying him was our other judge Vivek Lohia who is a Young India Fellow from Ashoka University, currently working with 9.9 Education Consultancy and Nayi Dhara Foundation. Our third judge was Mr. Ian Xavier Parera who is currently a student at National Law University, Assam, pursuing his BA. (LLB). An avid debater and quizzer since school, he is an executive member of the NLU Assam Debating Society and has represented his university in multiple debates.
